Why do you think it is some people don't get along with you?

I know people don't like me, but the reasons are varied.  Because I live in a very small, religious oriented town, they don't like me because I don't attend.  I don't share their beliefs, I think its rather small of them, and very unchristian to feel that because I don't attend "their" church, I'm an outcast from society.  I have done nothing that I know of to make them think that I am some freak.  Well, perhaps piercing my nose was a little odd.  I think too, they think that I am self centered, and don't care, but I care about things I believe in, and if you give me the chance I will go out of my way to do the best I can.  I don't believe in volunteering for everything and every occasion just so that people can say..oh ..theres so and so doing that.  But, if I volunteer or get involved, I am there to stay, not a one time deal.  I also don't believe in doing things like that to get my kids to play on a team, or in a play or to be the most popular at school.  I think thats hypocritical.  Sure everyone wants their kid to succeed, but should I have to kiss the coach's a** to get my son on the team?   Besides, my motto, love me or leave me....if you don't like me, as I am, then I'm not too worried, I probably wouldn't get along with you either.
